Understanding The Psychic Powers Of Man
|Author||Jaime T. Licauco|
|Dimension||5 x 8, 300g.|
This is practically a new book. A great deal of new material has been added, although I tried to retain the flavor or tone of the original. This edition is more scientific rather than esoteric. And it contains some of the latest theories and findings on neuroscience and parapsychology.
The first edition contained only 138 pages; this one is 192 pages long. The bulk of the new material in this new edition goes into the list of the different varieties pf psychic powers man is capable of. Whereas the original edition contained only 8 of them, this edition lists down and discusses over 35.
Many of the examples of psychic powers contained in this book were deliberately taken from the Christian Bible to show our predominantly Christian readers that these mental powers are natural, God-given faculties and are, therefore, not necessarily negative, or coming from the devil. St. Paul even called these powers gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I have retained the Foreword written by the well-known journalist and publisher, the late Maximo V. Soliven, from the original edition of the book, His words still ring true today. I have also retained the comments made about the book by German nuclear chemist, physicist and psychic researcher, Dr. Alfred Stelter of Dortmund Technical University.
Several outdated chapters of the original book were completely removed and others were revised and updated. I have also eliminated the Glossary of words in the original edition, because it would have made this edition more bulky and because I intend to come up with a dictionary of paranormal words in the future.
This book contains more illustrations and pictures than the original edition, which make it a more interesting and enjoyable read. I also decided to add as an Appendix the exchange of views between magician James Randi and myself regarding the existence of psychic powers in man.
I hope, therefore, that this revised edition will be welcomed by the current crop of readers the way it was welcomed and enjoyed by thousands o f readers of the first edition which kept the book in print for twenty long years.
