As one walks through these confessional essays, one encounters Karl and his world where the personal, political, and spiritual are interwoven into an intricate Lumad design. Here he reveals himself as true anthropologist, a radical lover of humankind in the particular persons and communities he lives and works with in his homeland Mindanao.
Walay kalibutan kung wala kay kalibutan. One strand of this proverbs surplus of meaning may be rendered: There is no world unless you have a world. Empowered by his mortality, Karl has dared to speak his world to youth of kindred spirits. With this publication of his essays, we are invited into Karls world with the hope that it may also describe our own.
