Rosario de Guzman Lingat (1924-1997) did not need a room of her own to produce a steady stream of short stories, essays, novels, and komiks stories which endeared her to a loyal reading public in the early 1960s and 1970s. This, according to Soledad S. Reyes who has done an extensive study of Lingat's life and work in Rosario de Guzman Lingat, 1924-1997: The Burden of Self and History. Through interviews and close reading of Lingat's prolific literary output, Reyes weaves together the pieces of Lingat's life to give contemporary readers a more intimate portrait of one of the major figures in Tagalog literature.
