The book is the first major contribution of the young Wildlife Conservation of the Philippines, Inc. in its continuing efforts to conserve the country's wildlife resources. It is also the first country Red Data Book produced with very substantial contributions from local Filipino experts. The unique and threatened species of the Philippines wild fauna are presented in this book. Their distribution and conservation status are given to provide funders, policy makers, NGOs, scientists and conservationists enough scientific basis to pursue the conservation of the species and their habitats. Thus, the books serves as a "call to action" to all sectors of our society to join in efforts to stem the tide of specific extinction.
