The book identified the problems, threats, and gaps which are based on the comprehensive assessment of the current status of the country's biodiversity. Thus, formed the basis for a national strategy and action plan, whose goals are the conservation, sustainable utilization, and equitable sharing of the benefits of biodiversity by all Filipinos, present and future. The book was designed to create awareness, better understanding and greater appreciation of the importance of biodiversity and the need to conserve and use it in a sustainable manner.
