This book examines the effects of public health policy on people's lives. From Marcos to Aquino, from central administration to devolution, it explores the role of political leadership and program orientation and delivery in the area of public health in improving people's well-being and advancing human values. Exaltacion Ellevera-Lamberte is an Associate Professor at the Behavioral Sciences Department of De La Salle University and currently a Senior Research Associate of the DLSU Social Development Research Center. She is the former Director of the University Research Coordination Office and Chairperson of the Behavioral Sciences Department. She is currently a university fellow and holder of the Distinguished Francisco Ortigas Sr. Professorial Chair in Philippine Studies. She is a consultant of the United States Agency for International Development in the Population, Health and Nutrition Program, Future's Group International Incorporated and the UNICEF-Development of the 1998 Philippine Social Science Congress. Lamberte finished her Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of the Philippines - Diliman. She took her postdoctoral study at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A. on a grant provided by the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of the Pacific Basin Research Center of Soka University of America. Among her areas of specialization are Social Policy Analysis, Health and Development, Poverty and Social Inequality, Social Research Methods, and Management of Institutional Research Programs in Higher Education.
