There is one thing that the author fully embraces, which he is very certain is in line with the mor enoble approach to agricultural development. This is the planning principle based on the ancient and useful lines of architecture that every structure must derive figure, strength and beauty. The book sets it apart from agriculatural delevelopemnt books that rather give more credence to historical analysis, data and factual presentation, empirical evidence and econometric modelling, which are rich in scholarly works based on factual data, theoretical foundation and even mathematical proof, but seemingly lacking in figure and symbolisms to portray the beauty of agricultural development in this country. Eduardo Bacolod is a development planning professional with almost 20 years of experience in development planning and management in the Philippines. He served the National Council on Integrated Area Development (NACIAD), the Special Concerns Office of the Department of Agriculture, and the Philippine Rice Research Institute. He obtained the degree of BS in Agriculture Economics from UPLB and the degree of Master of Science in Social Development Planning and Management from the University of Wales Swansea in the UK on a joint Pilipinas Shell and British Chevening Scholarship Programme.
