Seemingly, organized farming can best draw its strength from continuing community-based education, a process that will hone the core competencies of individual farmers as patr of an efficient organized farmers' groups engaged in viable business endeavors. Eduardo Bacolod is a development planning professional with almost 20 years of experience in development planning and management in the Philippines. He served the National Council on Integrated Area Development (NACIAD), the Special Concerns Office of the Department of Agriculture, and the Philippine Rice Research Institute. He obtained the degree of BS in Agriculture Economics from UPLB and the degree of Master of Science in Social Development Planning and Management from the University of Wales Swansea in the UK on a joint Pilipinas Shell and British Chevening Scholarship Programme. Raul Lara is the head of Technology Commercialization and Enterpreneurship Development Program of PhilRIce. He is a field agronomist with almost 30 years of experience in agricultural research, technology transfer and agribusiness. He obtained the degree of BS Agriculture from the Cagayan State University and MS Agronomy from UPLB on IRRI scholarship. He also received specialized training on seed production and management in Sweden.
