When I wrote "The Filipino Heroes" I had in mind the Filipinos in San Francisco, California, who had formed an organization called Dirnasa1ang, the head of which had suggested to me that I write this book.

He said many Filipino children born in the United States have never come to the Philippines and are studying the lives of American heroes but have no knowledge of the Filipino heroes.

Of course, I realize the great necessity of this, so I decided to write this book which would be beneficial not only to them, but also to our countrymen in the Philippines, who are not acquainted with their pictures and their biographies.

I wrote this book in both Tagalog and English so that the reader will find no difficulty in understanding it.

It is my aim and hope that this will enlighten our people and foreigners as well.
