Affection for San Beda reminds us of how absence makes the heart grow fonder. Or that like wind and candle, the former may snuff out the latter’s flickering flame, but will fan a great fire.

This year, there was a conflagration, a feast of passion reminding all of us how it was when our love was new. However, there is such a miracle, phenomenon or blessing as Benedictine or Bedan bonding.

This festschrift of sorts, meant for scholars with high basketball IQ’s or the common fan alike, is an effort to record the story of how San Beda ended a 28-year drought, spiced by looks into the past and glimpses into the future. There were those of us who started in the venue named after a great Bedan son, Ninoy Aquino, and we were transformed in Araneta as the Red Sea.

To all the members of the champion team, and their fans and supporters, keep on going. This book is about them—and you—who shared the agony of defeat and the ecstasy of victory.
