Ordonez puts together selected writings from 1896 to the present, giving readers an insight into the nationalist spirit which triggered the revolution of 1896 and culminated in the declaration of Philippine independence in 1898/. In his introduction Ordonez writes that the purpose of the books is to keep the nationalist spirit of 1896 and pursue it to its logical end: the realization of a truly sovereign and just society for the broad mass of the Filipno people.
