Power in the Village was co-published with the Project Development Institute. It examines how agrarian reform shapes and is shaped by the forces of globalization producing both desired and unintended consequences. It explores the current state of redistributive reform on the developing world, and attempts to answer difficult questions leveled against a program that has been with us for more than a century.
Morales served as Secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform and President of the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement. Putzel, an expert in Philippine Agrarian Reform, is Senior Lecturer at the Development Studies Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science.
