Despite the increasing popularity of the rondalla and the bulk and variety of its repertoire, it is peculiar that rondalla musical scores are rarely available. Most lay musicians learn tunes and do improvisations by rote and imitation, or by listening to taped or live performances. This poses difficulties for students and performers. In this landmark collection, Culig provides rondalla scores for 12 Philipine folkdances with most of the pieces arranged in six parts--- bandurria 1, bandurria 2, laud, octavina, guitar and bass. Estudientina arrangements are done for the rest of the pieces for richer timbre and texture. There are also suggested levels of difficulty assigned to each piece.
