This publication takes a look at one segment of the new social movements in the Philippines, the Philippine peace movement. The first part sets out to trace the origins of the Philippine movement in the armed conflicts that have divided the country for decades and the organizations that addressed these and related concerns. An analysis of these peace organizations has been made, based on their founding date, scope of operations, concerns, definition of peace, and types of peace action or peace-building efforts undertaken. Part 2 is the Directory proper which provides a profile of 102 organizations. Part 3 gives a background on the peace negotiations between various rebel groups and the government, and the profiles of concerned government , and the profiles of concerned government agencies and the rebel organizations. And Part 4 is a bibliographic listing of books, book and journal articles, and other publications on the insurgensies and the peace process in the country.
