Samuel Quirino is the new student who gets easily noticed and becomes the challenger for the title.
When Sam becomes a tough competitor inside and out the classroom, Ben will decide to quit the popularity contest.
Ben has never recovered from the scarred memories of abuse from his father, and he continues to suffer even more at present with a mother who is becoming more eccentric each day.
Sam is still grieving the death of his activist boyfriend.
Both will cling to each other to forget their painful precedents.
