Tagalog Movie
Two star struck teenagers risk the ire of their strick and abusive aunt when they decide to watch their idols in the Big Broadcast.
Sisters Angge (Amalia Fuentes) and Susay (Susan Roces) cannot believe their luck when they are handpicked by the days heartthrobs Eddie Gutierrez and Jose Mari (as themselves), to become their new on-screen partners!
Getting into all sorts of trouble and resorting to mischief in pursuit of their dreams of becoming artistas, they are chased by the police , get into fistfights, and are even held captive by their own aunt and cousins, who are artista-wannabes themselves!
All these happen inside a movie studio, amidst a flurry of color and threatrical settings that have Egyptian, Las Vegas, and even Caribbean themes.
A showcase of the top Filipino performers of the 1950's, from the Tirso Cruz Band, to the hilarious tandem of Dolphy and Panchito, Big Broadcast is the first Filipino featrure film in Technicolor, and boasts a full array of cameo appearances from the top stars of the time.
The whole movie chronicles and brings to life all the imaginative and colorful ideas of the Philippine entertainment industry, and sends out the message to viewers that when one is steadfast in pursuing a dream, a bright and colorful future awaits.
Directed by Luciano Carlos.
