Hong Kong Holiday (1957)
|Label||Sampaguita Pictures Inc|
Ana Lee (Gloria Romero),the daughter of one of the richest tycoons in Hong Kong and a direct descendant of the Lee Shiu Jiang dynasty, finds herself back in her home country after spending seven years abroad.
She soon finds out that her father has bethrothed her to one of his son's friends--- a Chinese tradition she has no control over.
Spurning the thought of bethrothal, Ana runs away and meets a trio of poor boaters living on the coasts of Hong Kong, led by Pak Tai Do (Dolphy).
They welcome her and she becomes a boatwoman herself, ferrying people to and from their destinations.
There she meets Robert (Ric Rodrigo), a rich Portuguese who falls for her beauty and rescues her from poverty.
The two soon fall in love with each other, but it isn't long before word reaches Ana's father and Robert's ex-girlfriend, Dora (Paraluman) and both make things awry for Ana once more.
