Pangako Sa 'Yo Vol.1
In the province of San Felipe lives Amor de Jesus (Jodi Sta.Maria), a young lady who dreams of providing a better life for her family.
She sells home-cooked dishes to the employees of Buena Mines, a mining company owned by an influential family, the Buenavistas.
Despite their financial woes, Amor maintains a cheerful disposition.
She also finds inspiration in the handsome Eduardo Buenavista (Ian Veneracion) whom she oftens daydreams about and perceives as a real-life prince.
Amor is unaware that Eduardo and his family are experiencing business problems.
Desperate for help, the Buenavistas reach out to the Zalamedas, a more powerful clan whose patriarch, Gov.Enrique (Leo Rialph) is willing to give them what they need on the condition that Eduardo marries his illegitimate daughter Claudia (Angelica Panganiban).
When her father and the other miners fall ill due to the terrible conditions at the quarry, Amor goes to Eduardo himself to ask for help. Against his mother's will, Eduardo assists their workers, and in the process, he gets involved in their lives, especially in Amor's.
Amor and Eduardo eventually find love in each other--- a love so strong that it breaks the heart of Diego (Bernard Palanca), Amor's secret admirer and Eduardo's brother.
But instead of Diego, it is his mother Benita (Pilar Pilapil) who reacts violently to this news, believing that Amor is only after their money.
The odds are heavily against the lovers as their actions become the primary cause of Buena Mines' continuing downfall.
It is during this time that Diego finds an opportunity to hang out alone with Amor, only to end up losing control of his emotions and forcing himself on her.
With both her body and dignity scarred, Amor is devastated but also unaware that Benita is taking advantage of this situation to break her and Eduardo up--- with a little help from Claudia.
Eduardo and Amor's relationship ends bitterly when Eduardo chooses to believe that Amor had betrayed him.
Her suffering does not end here, for she later on learns that Diego is not indicted and that Eduardo has married Claudia.
Inspite of her hardships, Amor finds the strength to carry on drawing inspiration from her baby daughter Maria Amor.
News of an earthquake in their town reaches Amor and she hurriedly returns there from HongKong, where she works as a caregiver.
However, only a sea of debris greets her arrival--- a tragic scene which Buena Mines is partly responsible for.
Bearing the painful loss of her entire family as well as the scars of her suffering at the hands of the Buenavista's, Amor swears vengeance against the man who was once her greatest love.
Many years pass, and in a small fishing village a young lady named Yna (Kathryn Bernardo) and her foster mother Belen (Amy Austria) try to make ends meet by selling food and catering for a bar owned by Belen's daughter-in-law Julieta (Sunshine Garcia).
Yna's peaceful life is occasionally perturbed by Julieta's hostility and her surrogate brother Carlos (Joem Bascon) improper gestures.
She then finds solace in a lake in Talimpao, a place that helps her recall faint memories of her bilogical mother.
But while swimming in its tranquil waters, Yna encounters a rebellious teenager named Angelo (Daniel Padilla) whi cuase her to lose he rprized necklace.
