PROBINSYANO--- The King of Philippine Cinema, Fernando Poe Jr., stars as an honest policeman from the province who has just been transferred to the big city. His being "promdi" makes him the butt of many humiliating jokes- thrown in by Manila policemen who believe that their being city-bred guarantees their superiority. Angered and challenged, he retaliates by working extra hard to solve tough crimes, and in the end proving that his being "probinsyano" is not the gauge to his true worth.
PAGBABALIK NG PROBINSYANO--- For years, the small quaint town somewhere in the Cordilleras has been the picture of peace and quiet, until one day, when a rich mining baron arrives with his armed thugs and starts causing disorder. Despite opposition from environmentalists and residents, the greedy businessman opens a mine, using all he has and doing all he can to amass wealth. All of a sudden, the towns police chief (Fernando Poe Jr.) finds his small contingent of native cops threatened by a huge army of security guards and goons who will stop at nothing to get what they want.
